Modern flat roofing system with improved drainage

This recent flat roofing project involved a full strip-out and replacement of two ageing felt flat roofs that had deteriorated significantly due to rot and long-term weather exposure.

The works began with the careful removal and disposal of the existing rotten torch-on felt roofing systems, exposing the roof structure for inspection and preparation. To create the correct water fall and improve drainage performance, new firring’s were installed to the joists, ensuring an accurate and consistent fall across both roof areas.

Once the falls were established, 18mm OSB tongue-and-groove boards were fitted throughout, providing a strong, secure, and durable substrate for the new roofing system.

The final waterproofing stage included the installation of just over 1,000 square feet of premium Firestone EPDM rubber, chosen for its durability, flexibility, and long-term weather resistance. The system was completed with raised edge trim, two-part gutter trim, and Code 4 lead flashings ensuring a clean finish and full weatherproof protection.

The completed project delivered a high-performance, modern flat roofing system with improved drainage, superior waterproofing, and a professional long-lasting finish.
